      📚 About FSMA 204

      What is FSMA 204?

The FDA Food Traceability Rule (FSMA 204) requires additional traceability recordkeeping for businesses that manufacture, process, pack, or hold foods on the Food Traceability List (FTL). The goal is to enable faster identification and removal of contaminated foods.

      Key Requirements

Covered businesses must maintain records with Key Data Elements (KDEs) for Critical Tracking Events (CTEs), assign Traceability Lot Codes (TLCs), and be able to provide information to FDA within 24 hours of a request.

      Who is Exempt?

Restaurants and retail food establishments (for foods sold directly to consumers), farms (for produce they grow), and small businesses under certain revenue thresholds may be exempt from some or all requirements.
